Equipment Troubleshooting And Fixes - Forge Coffee

Drip appearing under the machine

Remove the drip tray and check if the plastic waste box is full of water. If it is, the waste is either trapped or blocked with debris restricting flow. This should be freed or unblocked.

Visually check other pipes and joints for signs of leakage.

Spitting shower plates

In need of back flushing with detergent. If spitting or irregular flow persists an engineer is required.

No water or steam coming from Machine

When initially switching on, be sure to leave one steam arm open slightly to prevent an internal vacuum forming through temperature change.

Has the machine had enough time to warm up and fill up? After being switched on this takes approximately 30minutes.

Ensure that the isolation tap on the water feed pipe to the machine is in the ‘open’ position.

No power to espresso machine

Check the machine is switched on correctly.

Check the plug socket is working by trying a different device in it.

Try a new 13 amp fuse in the plug, or where directly wired into a socket 20 amp or 30 amp as specified.

No power to grinder

Check the plug socket is working by trying a different device in it.

Try a new 13 amp fuse in the plug

Incorrect coffee yield after extraction

Make sure that you only use the single basket in the single portafilter and the double basket in the double portafilter. They will each fit in the wrong handle if tried, but this will lead to incorrect coffee dosing.

Ensure you are using the correct does of ground coffee for each portafilter.
